Travel: Brasas at SM Aura Bonifacio Global City

SM Aura at Bonifacio Global City

Finally, I had time to visit the newly opened SM Mall in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig.

The building is 6-floors high but not all stores are open as of the moment. Few of the stores that you can already visit are Forever 21, Uniqlo and Cotton On. Forever 21 and Uniqlo can be found at the entrance of SM Aura. Cotton On is at the 2nd level of the building. They also have Starbucks just at the opposite side of Forever 21 and Uniqlo.

After trying out clothes in Forever 21 and Uniqlo, we got hungry and looked for restaurants.Due to lack of time, we weren't able to explore much so what we found are Jollibee in the Lower Ground and Food Court on the 4th level of the building. We check the food court they named "Food on Four" (since it is in the 4th level. I am that smart. :D ) Unlike the other food court in SM Malls, we were only able to choose from 3 food stores; Pepper Lunch, Sbarro and Brasas. Since Brasas is something new to us, we tried their dishes.

BRASAS: Latin American Street Food

Here are some of the dishes you can choose from:

1. Latin Classics
Charcoal grilled Beef Sirloin or Chicken Thigh, Spanish Rice & Vegetable Side Dish
    > Carne Asada Platter (Beef)          - Php 230
    > Pollo Asado Platter   (Chicken)    - Php 190

2. Wraps
Charcoal grilled Beef Sirloin or Chicken Thigh, Sauteed onion, Roasted Bell Pepper wrapped in soft flour tortilla
    > Carne Asada Wrap (Beef)           - Php 250
    > Grilled Chicken Wrap                  - Php 210

3. Salad
    > Ensalada De La Casa ( Chicken - Php 170, Carne Asada - Php 210, Roast Pork - Php 190)

4. Beverage
    > Latin Iced Tea  - Php 80

For drinks, they also have Coca Cola soda in can (We bought Sprite for Php 60) and SM bottled water (Php 35). I suggest you bring your own water as their bottled water is a bit expensive and there's no service water available in stores and in the food court itself.

Brasas Folks on the Works

Some photos taken while they are preparing our orders

Give your order first and this guy will weigh the meat (chicken, pork or beef)  to be grilled.
These people grill the meat.

Two Scoops of Spanish Rice for our platter.
And here are the final products:

Carne Asada Platter for Php 230 ordered by my food buddy Metro Street Bites.
Composed of Spanish Rice, Grilled Beef, Vegetable Salad and Sauce.
Vegetable salad is composed of Tomato slice, Oregano, Cabbage and Turnip.
Green Sauce has sour taste that compliments the tasty grilled meat.

Pollo Asado Platter for Php 190.
Composed of Spanish Rice, Grilled Chicken, Vegetable Salad and Sauce.

Overall Rating: 3/5 Stars

Lastly, for commuters who want to go to SM Aura, here's the direction:

1. Ride MRT and go down at Guadalupe Station
2. Go to Jollibee and you will see jeepneys going to Market Market. Fare is Php 8.00.
3. Tell the jeepney driver to drop you off SM Aura. SM Aura is located just near the parking area of Market Market.

Happy Commuting!

Travel: Korean Store in Ortigas, Found!

I have been searching the net for a Korean Store near our house or in some place that I am familiar of. But, I have no luck. All the places mentioned in forums, blogs & other sites where they found Korean stores are either far from my place or unfamiliar to me.
I was looking for a Korean Store because that’s the only place I know where I can find the most important ingredient for my planned homemade Kimchi – the hot pepper flakes. I attempted to use chili powder but in one website I checked for a Kimchi recipe, she mentioned that chili powder is not a good substitute for hot pepper flakes.
Since it was hard for me to find a Korean store, I gave up looking. But when I was walking along a street at the back of Robinson’s Galleria going to First Vita Plus office (SunTree Tower), I passed by this store with symbols that look like Korean characters (similar to characters in Koreanovelas I watch. haha). Curious enough, I entered the store and to my surprise, I accidentally found a Korean Store! I am so happy. So for those who are looking for  a Korean store in Ortigas area. Here’s how you can get there:
1.       At the back of Robinson’s Galleria, go to Garnet Rd. which is in between Burgundy Empire Tower and City & Land Mega Plaza.
2.       Walk straight ahead until you reach Ruby Rd. You will find a store named “Ha-Neul Mart” located at the Grand Emerald Tower. That’s the Korean store I am talking about. Here are some of the pictures I have taken:

And of course, before going out of the store, I tried this famous Korean Ice Bar – MELONA! I tried the melon flavor and it really tastes good! You can’t deny it’s melon with its smell and taste.

I’ll try out their other products sometime. If you have any suggestions of what to try, please feel free to share your comments below. Also, if you know a Korean Store near Puregold – Luzon Avenue. Please put it in the comment box below. Thanks in advance!

P.S. Since I am able to buy all the ingredients I need for my homemade Kimchi, I will post how I made it. Stay tuned! :)
